Must Have on your Design!

If you’re doing business online, your website is the first chance you have to make an impression on a potential customer.  You have to grab a site visitor’s attention within seconds or else you stand the chance of losing a sale.  That’s why it’s important to include these five features when designing your website:

Great content

You could have great rankings in the search engines, but you can’t keep a customer on your site or make them buy if the content doesn’t address their needs. The customers are visiting your site, now you have to ensure that they stay interested in your products or services.  Inspire and motivate customers to buy your products or services by providing clear and unambiguous information.

A compelling call-to-action

What is it that you want people to do when they come to your site? Do you want them to sign up for your newsletter?  Download your ebook?  Make a purchase or retain your services?  A call-to-action is a prompt to get people to take action.

For instance, in your website copy include “Contact us now” if you want people to call you.  You could also  incorporate a lead capture form where people can provide their email address to receive a free report.  Another way to get people to take action is to tell them that an offer is only available for a “limited time”.

Easy Navigation and Design

When it comes to website design, more often than not, the simpler it is, the better.  People want to visit a site and find the information they want very quickly and easily.  If your website is cluttered, the content is irrelevant, or they can’t navigate to find the information they need, they’ll leave your website in a flash.

Contact Page

It seems like a given, but do you know that there are many websites that don’t have a contact page?   If people have a question about your business, how can they contact you?  Include an email, phone number, and address (if applicable).  The contact page should also have links to social media pages such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. if people prefer to contact you through those channels.

You want your website to be memorable and create sales for your business.  Include these five elements and you’ll be on the road to online business success.

Why a company must be very careful using social media?

One of the fastest growing types of marketing is social media.  Social media has made it so companies can instantly reach millions of people in a very short amount of time.  This has both huge benefits but some obvious disadvantages too.  One thing that a company should think about before they use social media is hiring a dedicated social media manager. There are many reasons why a company must be very careful using social media so it is imperative that you take the time to plan out a strategy to attract, keep and befriend your customers.  Creating a plan will help you avoid the most common mistakes that can be made when your company utilizes social media.  You may also want to instruct your employees about posting things on social media sites as well.

SEO

Understanding SEO

Search Engine Optimization, more commonly referred to as SEO, are a variety of techniques used to bring your website on top within search engines, primarily Google. The best way to utilize SEO is to first educate yourself on the different techniques used to improve your website’s rating. SEO may seem complex and intimidating at first, but the more you learn, the easier it will be to get the hang of it.

Brainstorming Keywords
SEO should always start with keyword research. Once you have a general idea of what your website will be about, you’ll need to start writing down keywords that are relevant to the content of that site. When coming up with keywords, think about your potential visitors. What words will they use to search for your website? Keyword research tools can also help you to come up with different phrases and synonyms.

Choosing a Domain Name
Once you’ve decided on your keywords, you’ll need to purchase a domain name or set up a sub-domain. Many website owners choose to pick a domain name that includes their keywords. For example, an exact match domain for the keyword term, “keyword research tips,” would be “keywordresearchtips.com.” Alternatively, you may use a partial match domain, such as “keywordsearchtipsandtricks.com.” Finally, you may choose not to use keywords at all and instead opt to use your full name or the name of your company.

Keyword Placement on Your Website
It is important to place your main keyword and keyword phrases at in the title of your website. This is typically the first thing that potential visitors will see when your website shows up in search engine results. The title is also important as it lets web spiders know what your website is about.
The description is another important aspect to consider. This is what search engines use to tell others what your website is about. Keep your description brief, use keywords, and write it for potential visitors first and search engines second.
Headings on your website should include your keyword phrases. Use “H1″ and “H2″ heading tags for your most important keywords.
The content within your website should not only be useful to potential visitors, but it should also include some of your keywords, synonyms of your keywords, and keyword phrases. Do not stuff your content full of keywords, as this is called “keyword stuffing,” and could actually hurt your website instead of help it. A good rule of thumb is to implement your keywords for every 100 words that are on that particular page. However, it is more important to write content for your visitors instead of for search engines. If you don’t use your keyword for every 100 words, life goes on. If you do, that’s great.

Internal Link Structure Techniques
Many people who work to optimize their websites for search engines don’t pay much attention to internal link structure. Internal link structure is basically linking to other pages on your website within your website. When search engine spiders crawl your site, they look for links and relevant content. When they find links, they follow them. If you have numerous links to certain pages on your site, this could give that page an SEO boost.
Anchor text links are also very important. Anchor text links are text used as hyperlinks. These links are far more important than non-relevant text links, such as “click here for more information,” or a basic URL. It helps let search engine spiders know what the link is about.

Building Backlinks
Backlinks are links from other websites to your website. The more high-quality backlinks your website has, the higher it will rank in search engines. However, not all backlinks are the same. If the website that links to your site isn’t crawled by search engines, it will not help your website.
Also, low-quality backlinks, such as links from websites that have no relevance to yours, could hurt your site. Keep this in mind when building backlinks.
SEO is crucial to increasing your website’s traffic. If you need more visitors, optimizing your website is the way to go.
